What do you know about government car auctions?
Can you find a decent car at a really good price?
I found a list of several auto auction and government seized web sites. http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Government-Seized-Auto-Auctions.html These sites can probably answer your questions. It looks like they cost a small fee to join, but I couldn’t find any free resources online. Since the vehicles are always being sold, your annual fee is probably used to employ people to keep the site up to date.
Most websites offering "Government Car Auctions" are scams. They want you to pay them a fee for a list of the government auctions. These lists are often outdated and mostly useless.
Havig said that, if you can actually find an auction, you will be bidding on and possibly buying a car without the benefit of taking it for a test drive or having a mechanic look at it. Because of the risk of the unknown, the prices will be lower than what you will find on the open market. But it can be a very costly mistake. You could easily buy a car that looks good for a $500 discount only to find it needs $1,000 or more in repairs.
If you want a good deal on a car that you can inspect and take to your mechanic, find a good car broker in your area. Reputable brokers will not charge you a fee. Their compensation is included in the price of the car and the price is usually hundreds less than from a dealer. If you need the name of a nation wide broker, let me know.

You can usually find a cheap, decent and good running car at a government car auction depending on which one you go to. If you do decide to buy one from there just make sure you give it a good inspection because they are sold in as-is condition.
